Mel Tull
For Congress
Experience. Common Sense. Solutions.
Practical leadership for Virginia’s first District.
I’m Mel Tull — a Henrico dad, a veteran, and a business lawyer based in Henrico County. I’ve spent more than 30 years working in the real world, helping businesses grow, solving complex problems, and supporting communities across our region.
I’m not a career politician. I’m running for Congress to bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to Washington — one that listens, shows up, and works for the people it represents.
We need leaders in congress who fight for Virginia’s families and local businesses. Leaders who will lower costs for everyone, protect our health care and rights, and put our families first.
It wasn’t always my plan to run for office. I’m not a career politician – but I am the right person for the job. As an experienced business and community leader, I am confident I can win this seat and bring about a new era of leadership. Leaders who put voters’ interests ahead of their own. I will work for you to build bridges, restore your trust in our government, and deliver results on the issues that matter.
Virginia deserves a congressman with the courage of his convictions. I’m ready to cut through the noise and focus on common sense solutions. I look forward to sharing my vision for Virginia’s 1st District with you. I consider it an honor to earn your trust and support.

Who I am and Why I’m Running
Virginia’s First District doesn’t need more politics. It needs practical leadership focused on real results.
I’m a dad, a veteran, and a business lawyer, and like many families across our district, I’ve worked hard to build a life through perseverance, service, and opportunity.
After high school, I enlisted in the Army. I put myself through college using the Army College Fund, student loans, and part-time jobs, earning degrees in both accounting and law. Those experiences taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and what’s possible when opportunity is within reach.
Over a 30-year career, I’ve worked as a consultant for a major accounting firm, a business lawyer in a large firm, and as general counsel for a regional company. Today, I run my own small law practice, representing small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits. I’ve spent decades helping people solve problems, navigate challenges, and build something meaningful.
I’ve also been deeply involved in our community and currently serve in leadership roles with organizations that support children and young adults in the foster care system. For several years, I served as Treasurer of the Henrico County Democrats, helping support local candidates and strengthen civic engagement.
My wife, Dr. Annemarie Tull, and I raised our three children here in Richmond. They attended Henrico County Public Schools and went on to public universities. We’ve seen firsthand how much opportunity matters, and how important it is to have leaders focused on making systems work better for everyone.
I’m running for Congress because too many families feel like the system isn’t working the way it should. Across Virginia’s First District, I hear the same concerns — rising costs, pressure on small businesses, and frustration that decisions made in Washington don’t reflect the realities people are facing every day.
I’ve spent my career working through those kinds of challenges. I know how decisions impact paychecks, businesses, and families, because I’ve seen it firsthand. I also believe leadership matters. Leadership that listens, considers different perspectives, and focuses on solving problems instead of creating more division.
Whether you live in Henrico County, Chesterfield County, or in one of the many small towns and rural communities across Virginia’s First District, you deserve a representative who shows up, listens, and works to deliver real results.
That’s why I’m running — to bring a practical, thoughtful, and results-focused approach to Congress.
